I have a sharing problem, and I'm pretty new to networking.

We had 3 computers hooked to broadband through a LinkSys router. We had full access to all computers and files. Recently, we switched to a motorola wireless router and all wireless ethernet cards. The problem now is that we can't see the computers. I"ve tried to shut off the firewall, but that doesn't allow me to see the other computers or get on the internet.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mary

Hi,

You don't say the type of Linksys router you had before getting the motorola router. Did you set the mode to "G" or "b"? Did you set the SSID to broadcast? Did you set security and passphrase key?

Give more details of motorola router and adapter cards. Make sure sharing is on. Always reboot computers and router.

Welcome to the Network Forum.

You should examine your Network Settings and Sharing, could be that the new installation changed few parameters.

You can find ref. info here:

A lot of Links concerning Sharing here: Sharing Disk Drives Between Computers on Windows Network. (http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html)

I can't ping the other computers either. Each says it's logged onto the same network, and in the admin section of the router, I can see that the other IPs are assigned to the other systems. We all have the same Workgroup, but I can't find them in network neighborhood or through a ping.

The Motorola router is WR850G. The cards are also motorola - (the ones that were for that router.)

The network is passworded. All the computer can get on the internet.

How do you set the mode to B or G? Sharing is on, firewalls are off.
