Changing between ap's

Hi,

I have a wireless router and one access point. One of my laptops is changing on-and-on between the ap and router. Meaning, when connected, it disconnects and connects to the other.

How can I prevent this?

You can set the wireless SSID preference in the wireless connection settings. Also ensure you have SSID broadcast enabled in the APs.

You can prevent it connecting with MAC authentication. (but you don't really want to do this because the laptop should switch if it loses connection with the preferred AP).

Having said that I get this problem too with my SMC G wireless cards and I suspect some of the vendor firmware/drivers are immature still (i.e. buggy).

You might download XP SP2 which has additional wireless features. But it won't solve poor firmware/drivers.

Set the Router and the AP to different channels.
