Hi Guys,

I have searched far and wide, and have not been able to come up with a solution. Hopefully someone here can help.

Here is my current configuration:

Cable Modem
Cable/DSL Router with 4 Port Switch (CR)

ComputerA:
Windows XP Pro
NIC A1 -> CR
NIC A2 -> NIC B2 via Crossover cable (not configured)

ComputerB:
Windows XP Pro
NIC B1 -> CR
NIC B2 -> NIC A2 via Crossover cable (not configured)

Both ComputerA and ComputerB can connect to the internet, share files, printing, etc. perfect - no issues here. What I wanted to do was setup a private network between the two computers via NIC A2 and NIC B2. The main reason for this is that I typically use ComputerB to connect to the office via a corporate VPN solution (non-configurable), which totally blocks all other network access to ComputerB. In other words, with the corporate VPN solution running running on ComputerB, ComputerA and ComputerB can no longer communicate, share files, etc. My thoughts are that if I set up this private link between them (i.e. using 10.x.x.x), I would still be able to communicate between them while the corporate VPN is using the other network connection (NIC B1). I guess another way to think of this is that if the router crashed, the two computers would still be able to talk to each other.

Does this make sense, or am I out to lunch here? I have no idea how to configure NIC A2 and NIC B2 to enable this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
