hi

well i have adsl connection in taiwan but the isp isn't very stable and the speed is not consistent. to make things worse, our family has three computers all on wireless routers sharing the same connection. this makes it difficult to play online games, as i am often disconnected due to high s2c packetloss.

is there a program or something that can allow me to use all the bandwidth so i can get minimum packetloss while my parents who do not play games can use less? sorry if i'm not clear, but anyway, any solution to the existing problem is appreciated.

thanks

Packetloss is nothing to do with bandwidth. You cannot manipulate the bandwidth between your 3 PCs without a special router. Even then I doubt your parents effect you much unless they are doing large downloads. You could separate your wireless link with another wireless accesspoint set to your own channel. You will still share the internet bandwidth.

Most games actually need quite little bandwidth. More important is the quality of the connection between your PC and the game sever (i.e. packet loss and ping time). Packet loss and ping time are influenced by anything between you and the game sever. You should check the quality of your connection to your ISP because if that is poor its hopeless.
Use Ping to test response time
Use Tracert to test for packet loss
(See XP Help and Support for info).
There are lots of tools on the internet you can use also.

When satisfied your route to the ISP is OK try the same with the game server you select. You just have to select games servers with good connection i.e. minimal packet loss and ping time max 250ms, as low as possible and 125ms is good.
