Hey,

I'll be a college student in a month, and just got a laptop. I wanted to setup a wireless router so I could access the internet in the house. We already have a phoneline network, but the USB adapters don't work with WinXP.

Anyway, my dad works for the government, and is VERY skeptical about setting up a wireless network in the house. He's concerned about war drivers driving by and accessing our network. However, we're in a fairly suburban neighborhood, and about 300 feet from the street. Our neighbors are also about 200 ft on each side of our house.

Are there any articles on the web that calm the fears of setting up wireless network? Believe me, he has found TONS of articles describing the flaws and risks of using a router, even reading a story of a leecher downloading kiddie porn off an open router! I have every intention of using the security features (WEP, disabling SSID broadcasting, and MAC address restriction), but he still won't buy it.. HELP!
