File sharing through home network

Help! I have one desktop (name: desktop) connected to cable modem through a router, and a laptop (name: laptop) connected to internet through the same router (wireless connection). They belong to workgroup MShome. They can access the internet at the same time and work just fine. They can see the workgroup, but desktop cannot access MShome from My Network Place, while laptop have access but only sees itself. Is there a way to share file between these two, and establish a real local network?

The only thing you have not mentioned is creating a network share on each PC.

I suggest you walk thro my TCP/IP checklist and ensure everything is as it should be, or come back with the problem. Do not use the network wizard.
