Hi there

I have recently purchased a LinkSys RV082 to make use of the Dual WAN Ports. I have 3MB Cable and 512KB ADSL. I am using a Motorola SurfBoard 4200 and SMC 7004ABR for the cable connection and a USR 4 Port Modem/Router for the ADSL.

I need to ditch the USR Modem/Router as cannot be set to act as a Pure Modem and will conflict with the RV082.

Setting up the Cable connection on the RV082 is a piece of cake.
The ADSL however is causing me grief. I need to find a good ADSL Pure Modem with NO NAT, Firewall, etc. Needs to be Ethernet as USB wont cut it.

D-Link have the DSL-300T, but it has been getting pretty bad feedback about it crashing and dodgy firmware updates.

Are there any other good options for me with regards to other ADSL modems? Possibly something like the Motorola SurfBoard.

Kind regards
Flussig

They are quite rare.

There is this one.
Netgear DM602 Single Port Ethernet ADSL Router. It has 2 device modes so it can be used as either a single port Ethernet ADSL router or as a straight through modem.

dunno if its good or not.

spooookkkyyy!!

was just reading through the manual of the DM602 to see if it could be used as a modem when i got an email to say that there had been a reply to this topic!

The manual was of no good to say that it can, but you have just confirmed to me that it canbe used as a modem. I will begin a search for a DM602 as they have been discontinued according to netgear webby.

thanks greenstead

I would Not recommend any of Combos Modem/Router.

There kind of “Not Here neither There” type of devices. The Router part usually Sux.

This a good fairly priced DSL Modem: http://www.dslmodemsdirect.com/ModemModels/5515.htm

That modem looks good and it has the microfilter built it.

But I doubt you find it in the UK. Please let us know if you do.

Cant find this product from any UK supplier. dont mind ordering from the good ol US of A if anyone can tell me if this would work in the UK.

Well thats why when I looked I searched for UK products only.

You may well find a US dealer will not export outside US/Canada due to the current US export laws on technology. And if you get it and it goes wrong..hmmm.

I would go for the 602. I see nothing wrong with it. Tell them exactly what you want it to do when you buy it. Its easier to return in the UK also.

i was going to try the both of them anyway, but i have my reservations about ordering the Zoom. I ordered the Netgear yesterday, so should be here today or Thurs.
