Hi,

I have two computers. One is running Windows XP, the other with Windows ME. They are properly connected, and can both access the internet through the Linksys BEFSX41 Router/Switch. The XP computer can access shared documents on the ME computer (after typing in the password, of course), but not vice versa. No matter what I do, it always says "the network device has been disconnected" (or something like that). But at the same time, my dad's other XP computer can access both computers without doing ANYTHING. I know I have NetBEUI, NetBIOS, IPX, TCP/IP, and Client for Microsoft Networks installed on both computers. I am completely mystified and if anyone can please help (unlike my last post...) I would appreciate it greatly.

Thanks,
Evan

I don't use ME so don't think I can advise on ME problems. I would suggest you get rid of the protocols you do not need.

Generally you only need TCP/IP and Netbios over TCP/IP.

You might try setting up your XP PC the same as your Dads XP PC.

Thanks, all i needed to do was select TCP/IP as the default connection which i did merely by accident. THank you very much.
