I have a dial-up connection and 2 computers. A desktop and a laptop. I need to find a wireless router so i can surf on my wireless laptop without desktop being on. I know it be slow but i cant get broadband where i live. Sad but true. I look into satellite but prices are high. I live in the Uk.
I had a look and very few adsl routers have dial-up support also. I know the d-link 713p does but too expensive i want a cheaper alternative. I hear netgear and smc have but i not found any models.
Will a wireless router let you connect wired and wireless together and both see each other?
When i configure it do i still need to turn on ICS even though i use a router or is there no need.

The generation of Cable/DSL Routers has Serial Ports and Printer Servers. The second generation (for the sake of price) dropped both.
The current Generation is partially returning the Printer Server but no serial port.
You will have to find an Older Model with serial port and buy an Access Point.
As an Example this was one of the best Wired Routers. Add to it an inexpensive Access Point and enjoy.

Thanks for your advice. That is a great router. I checked the price here in the uk and it retails at £70($140) adding a Wireless port which the cheapest i found is £50. Total cost be £120 all this for crappy dial-up. Which i dont even know by the time i get dialup to my second pc will it all be too slow?
Update:
I found the wireless version of it now the SMC SMC7004AWBR with an RS-232 Com Port and built-in print server. Great price in usa, expensive here.

Finding something that fits your budget might be a challenge, since this is now a niche area. Most of the remaining serial capable SOHO routers are geared at supporting the last few ISDN installations, not really modems. They just happen to also work with modems.
