I have 2 PC's networked thru a USR8054 Access Point and Router. The desktop is connected directly to the AP & R while the laptop is connected via a USR5410 wireless adapter. Both are able to access the internet and shared resources. My problem exists on the laptop using WinXP Pro. If I logon under my user account, the network connection icon shows unavailable. However, if I logon as Administrator, my connection quickly becomes available. In order to have this connection available to any of my user accounts, I must first logon as Admin and then either logoff or switch users. Now the USR wireless configuration utility can only be accessed under the Admin account and this is normal according to USR Tech Support. I was also told that this problem is not caused by the USR hardware/software but by the operating system and that I would need to setup some sort of policy allowing users access to the wireless network. Is this true and if so, any idea on how I might go about doing this? Any info is greatly appreciated, as having to logon as Admin each time I'd like a user to access the network is becoming very inconvenient. Thanks in advance. :)

Thanks for the info cszeto. I was told by the USR Tech Rep that I should use the software that came with my networking hardware therefore I never bothered to try and use the Windows utility. I gave it a try and all works as it should. I can now connect to the network in all user accounts without logging in as Admin first. BTW, I'm very disappointed that the Tech Rep could not tell me about this simple fix. That's quite poor on their part to build software that does not have this type of functionality in a multi-user platform. Thanks so much for helping me out.:D

It's the unfortunate trend of businesses ripping off their customers by farming out their support to substandard organizations sitting in third world countries. The same countries that have no respect for sensitive technologies, since they lack any comprehension of the concept. Their idea of providing support is in reading a logical decision path tree, sometimes that tree is either incomplete or outright wrong...
