I have a peer to peer wireless network connecting two computers. It has worked fairly well in about half a year, with frequent but short break downs, always cured by restarting the older computer. But some days ago, when I had updated my Norman anti-virus control software over a modem, the WLAN ceased to work, and I can’t restore it. In both ends of the (former) connection, the wireless network monitors show good or very good signal strength. On the oldest computer, with Windows 98 1st edition, I simply can’t see the other computer. On the newest computer, with Windows XP, I get an error message telling that a trial to restore the connection has failed. Can anyone tell me what to do?

IPCONFIG on the XP machine gives:

IP-konfiguration för Windows
Ethernet-kort Trådlös nätverksanslutning:
Anslutningsspecifika DNS-suffix . :
IP-adress . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2

Nätmask . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.255
Standard-gateway . . . . . . . . : 212.105.9.238

IPCONFIG on the the Windows 98 machine gives:

Standard-gateway………:
