Can see but can't access computers on my wireless network

I have a Dlink DI-624 wireless router, a DWL-g650 wireless card for my laptop and a DWL-g520 for my desktop. Both comps are running XP home. on my laptop I can see the desktop, but can't access it. On my desktop I can't even see anyone in the workgroup. What's the deal?
