I want to have a wireless laptop connected to my desktop and surf the net anywhere in my house. The internet connection is only dial-up 56k but i dont want my desktop on as its noisy so as i understand it i need a wireless router so i can use the laptop while the desktop turned off when i surf the net. I look around but cant find much products that have a wireless router with dial-up backup. I wanted which of the d-link wireless routers have dial-up backup its called a rs232 port and any others products trying to keep the cost down. D-Link do a nice wireless router the 604+ but i don't know if it has dial-up.
Many Thanks

The D-Link DI-713P can accomplish what you have described, but it is at 11 mbps. US Robotics also has a model or two, at least one of them is capable of 22 mbps with the TI chip set.
Most of the all-in-one combination wireless dial-up/high speed routers operate on the 802.11b or 802.11b+ standards. Most of the models have also been "end of life" by the manufacturers. You might consider just a dial-up/high speed router and then a wireless access point, if you are interested in "future-proofing" for upgrades.

Thanks alot. I would consider a dial-up router and a seperate access point only haven't seen any as they seem to get scarcer now adsl takes over. If you know any brands then welcome please advise.

SMC, Hawking Technologies and Netgear all have dial-up/high speed models. There's a few others in the woodworks too.
