Problem : installing Internet Connection Sharing

OS : Windows 98 SE
Line : ADSL
Modem : Alcatel Speed touch on separate adapter
Network : simple home ethernet

Before installing ICS on host Internet access is OK. Both adapters are visible if I run winipcfg.

Installing ICS goes ok.

After installing : everything looks fine, f.e. :
- Configuration - Network gives three adapters, TCP/IP address for network adapter is set etc. etc.
- Internet setting looks ok

However :
- I can't ping the modem,
- winipcfg gives only the 'home' adapter (not the 'shared' adapter),
- if I try to reinstall the modem only the 'home' adapter is visible.

It looks like the IP address of the 'shared' adapter is completely invisible from within Windows ?

Any help is welcome,
TIA,

I cannot say that I have 'solved' the problem, but by putting in another (newer) machine with the same OS everything worked in about 5 minutes.

Was the ADSL modem a USB one? I have often found problems with USB and Windows 98 SE. I always use Windows 2000, its just a must better system for everything.
