i am trying to connect a linksys wireless router to a linksys 5 port switch to a smc router. the smc is my main router, and the linksys router will be used as an access point. connected router to router everything works great, but as soon as i introduce the switch it's a no go.

tks for the reply. i have done what the links suggested but no joy. some history is in order. the linksys wireless router is a 4 port that has been reduced to a 1 port due to a lightning strike. the wan, wireless and port one work great, just the other 3 ports are dead. i am typing this message from the laptop wirelessly to the linky to the smc and so on. i want to setup the linky on the main floor where there is already a lan cable connected to a pc, and the smc upstairs. solution would seem to be to attach a switch at the main floor end, run cable from switch to pc, and another cable from switch to linksys router. this is where it breaks down. no connection lights between switch and linksys router. have tried straight thru and crossover cables to no avail. i know switch is good as i have been able to connect pc to switch to smc and get lan access. any thoughts?
