i have a curious problem with my networking software. I set up a crossover lan which initially worked. Then it didnt as the network wouldnt recognise the second computer (even on that computers network neighbourhood) I checked the networked settings they were unchanged so i checked the system device manager window. This showed that the 'Existing Ndis2 Driver' and 'Parallel port ATAPI Adapter' were not working properly. naturally I then changed, updated, even deleted and reinstalled these drivers in an attempt to get them to work again - All to no avail 1
So i wondered if some other piece of the jigsaw may be missing? At this pint I am at a complete loss so if anyone can help I can stopp banging my head against the wall in frustration
cheers

Not being able to see another computer in Network Neighborhoods is not an indication of anything not working with the network. It just means Network Browsing is not working, which is not always an indication that the network itself is not working.

It appears that you may have some computer system resource conflicts, which has nothing to do with networking nor the scope of this forum. You might trace back to the last expansion card installed or related driver updated. Digging into each card setting may also allow you to correct the situation (e.g. conflicting IRQ or memory reservation).

If this is not something you feel comfortable about, then you may consider taking the system into a shop for further assistance. These situations can get very frustrating. I've lost countless hours with my kids' machines over the exact same issues. Not every expansion card can be successfully added to every computer system, although the manufacturers will never print that on the side of the boxes (smirk).
