I am looking to add wireless capability for my notebook to my existing lan. I am running a Zyxel Cable/DSL 4 port router into a 5port D-Link Switch. Just bought a Notebook and I want to get rid of the patch cable so I can take it to different rooms of my home. I am looking for 802.11A standards and I am looking for suggesstions on MFR's and Model's for the WAP and WNIC. What do you recommend? Is there any websites that list mfrs & models and then compares them?
Been Looking at the D-Link AirPro DWL-A650 Card and the DWL-5000AP for the WAP.

I don't know of any places that compare card for card. With 801.11A being still quite new in the market there is limited real user feedback so far.

IMO its a bit early to jump in with 802.11A just yet.

I think Greenstead hit it on the head. 802.11b's data pipe is more than enough for most home users to share internet, transfer some files, and play games. My cable modem on its best day can't max out my 802.11b connection. Having experienced the (what seems to be standard) range dissapointment after installing my 802.11b wireless network, I wouldn't like to deal with 802.11a which has 5 times the data pipeline, but is much finickier and has significantly less range.
Do you need the extra bandwidth of 802.11a?
