I want to subscribe to an ISP which requires me to buy a modem. The configuration they are providing me is 'COM 21'. Can anyone tell me is that the same as Cable Modem? Or can anyone give me some more information on that type of modem?
Thank you.

The company makes cable modems, headend equipment, and software used by cable networks to deliver high-speed Internet access.
Its flagship ComUNITY Access system lets cable networks offer differentiated rates and custom services such as videoconferencing to telecommuters, small businesses, and residential users.
Network management software and noise filtering technologies also come bundled with ComUNITY Access.
Com21 sells directly to cable networks in North America and internationally to systems integrators.
Customers include Telindus (about 25% of sales) and Adelphia Communications.

http://www.com21.com
this website says it has sold off its product lines. Cable modems went to http://www.castlenet.com.tw/
But their cable modem products do not list a com21.
I wouldn't want to buy a modem which such an unclear supplier and support. I would ask the ISP to recommend an alternative.
