I replaced my SMC because it didn't seem to work as advertised. Virtual server and DMZ didn't seem to work the way I thought (i.e., couldn't connect from outside my network). So, I got a Linksys 4 port router (not the one with SPI). It's even worse from what I can tell.
I've tried to set it up to play games via the Zone, but no go. I've also tried to put my machine in the DMZ, but no go. Oddly enough when I went to www.grc.com and did a port probe I didn't see any difference at all bewteen DMZ and not DMZ.
I've checked around and even went to the Linksys website (not very informative). I've checked the .pdf manual (which seems to stop at page 39 even though the TOC goes well beyond that.
I know people have been able to get these things to work, but I'm really struggling.
I'd like to be able to set it up to play games on one machine (DX7, DX8 and Zone Match). I'd also like to be able to set it up to run a server on a second machine. Can anyone help somebody that's getting pretty darn frustrated? At least I could play games using the SMC.
