My company's LAN consists of 5 Win98 machines, 2 NT 4.0, and 2 Win2k machines. Domain Server is a Win NT4.0. Email server (Win98) running Mdaemon email software and Wingate proxer server. Entire LAN uses static IP addresses. All are connected through a hub. We recently acquired a DSL connection. All worked fine until the boss decided to try and connect an Internet phone to the system. It required DHCP. Unable to get it to work, he disconnected it from the LAN. Now only IE on the Email/Proxy server machine will load http pages properly. All stations on the LAN, using the proxy, display the following problems.
Initial loading of any page will produce either text with some images but many are missing (gifs not loaded) or 'Socket Error. Host Unreachable'.
If you click on refresh after the socket error, the page loads but still incomplete (no gifs).
If you click on refresh after an incomplete page you might get either another incomplete page or the socket error.
I know this may lead to several questions but I hope someone will point me in a direction I've not gone yet.
