Hi all,

Ok, I`m trying to set up a small wireless network at home. I have one laptop (running WinXP pro) and one desktop (Again running WinXP pro). The wireless setup is a U.S.Robotics 100Mbs PCI for the desktop and a U.S.Robotics 100Mbps PCMCIA for the laptop.

I`ve set them up to Ad-Hoc, but nothing happens. The laptop claims to have connected to the workroup, with an excellent strength, but when I try to see the network, there`s nothing there. However, the desktop PC doesn`t seem to even want to do that, even though the card is runnin fine. Oh, also set up the SSID.

Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? I`ve read the sticky thread above, but couldn`t really grasp any. Also, should I set static IP addresses? The problem here is that I also have a wired LAN, that is used to connect to my Xbox and when I try to put in an IP address for the wireless, it completely disrupts the LAN configuration already there.

FInally, the laptop seems to crash when running with the wireles adopter in position. I get a STOP screen with the error

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

and loads of things which i`m not too clear about :)

Well, sorry for thislong post. If anybody can help, it`d be a HUGE help!

Thanks in advance!

Your system includes one computer with two NICs (Wired, and Wireless) that like you having two Networks. Thus you need to assign the right IPs and names to each network and use the Bridge mode in WinXP to bridge the two.
