Hello,

I'm an IT consultant, and I need a small AP I can carry around and connect to my clients' LANs to provide my laptop with 802.11b (I'll upgrade to -a if needed). It's hard to find some specs (such as the size if the AC power adapter), so I'm hoping someone here can help.

Specs:
- small: my current mini-ethernet hub is ~ 5" x 5" x 1", and that's about as big as will fit in my bag.

- Ethernet ports: Sometimes I need to share a network jack with another device; having a router available would be useful, but more complicated for just sharing the jack. Either 2 LAN ports, 1 LAN + 1 WAN, or, even better, 2 LAN + 1 WAN.

- Security: 128-bit WEP, filter by MAC address.

- DHCP: Client for my customers' DHCP servers, server for my laptop

I've found a few ideas, but, as I said, it's hard to find all the specs:
- D-Link 900AP
- D-Link DWL--810
- Orinoco AP-200 (can I remove the base?)
- Orinoco AP-500
- Orinoco BG-2000
- Proxim Harmony 8550

Thanks very much in advance,
guanxi

Most AC adapters for these products are similar at about 3" square.

I would say if your client's IT people are security minded they won't allow you to connect a wireless AP to their network (even if you are using WEP and MAC filtering).
