Hi there,

I have a 7-computer network at home. 3 xp machines and 4 w98 machines. With a cable-modem internet connection.

Everything works fine, untill....

We disconnect the internet. (our provider burned down, so we dont have internet at the moment...)

When internet is disconnected, all the w98 machines keep functioning in the network, but all the xp machines (xp pro) stop working in the network...

I'm out of options....I cant figur it out.

Does anyone has an idea how to solve this problem? I can provide additional info if needed.

thx!

Your network should not stop working internally just because you disconnect the internet.

A clue might appear if you describe your network topology (how everything is connected). Also what is (was) your method for sharing the internet.

this happened to me just recently. our cable went down for about 10 hours due to a storm, and suddenly my two win2k machines were not getting ip's from my linksys befsr41. after cable service was restored, i had to reboot the router and both machines to get everything working again. i do not know why this happened, because the router and sharing functions of the befsr41 are supposed to be seperate if im not mistaken
