We have 2 98se comps and 1 w2k comp connected to a linksys
DSL/Cable router.

With all 3 connected, all have internet access.

The w2k comp can "see" and access the 2 98s.

Network Neighborhood: The 98s do not see the others,
and DO NOT see themselves.

==============================

I disconnect the w2k comp, reboot the 98s and they see
themselves and each other, and have internet access.

==============================

The 98s "log on" as their computer names: office1, main.

I have added these names as users on the 2k comp, added them to the administrators, users, and guests groups.

I have enabled the guest account on the 2k comp

I have created new shares on the wk2 comp.

I do not understand why the 98 comps do not see themselves when the 2k comp is on.

The IPs are assigned by the router starting with 192.168.1.100,
submask 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.1.1: no IP conflicts.

All comps are pingable from each other.

I disabled browse master on the main 98 computer.
No difference: when the w2k comp is booted it stops all
of the 98 comps from seeing themselves and all other comps.

I "adjusted" the case of the workgroup name on the 98 comps.
(The 2k comp uses uppercase only.) And rebooted the 98 comps.

No difference.

Yes.

But why do the 98 comps stop seeing themselves when the 2k box is on?

I request guidence.

I think the W2K will take the Browse master role.

Ensure you have M$ updates for the 98SE.

Try the checks in my sig.
