Hi all,

I have a new Netgear WGT624 Wireless Router (108mbps) downstairs linked to a cable modem. All my PC's are upstairs - at the moment only two have wireless cards - a laptop with a Netgear WG511 54mbps PC Card and a PC desktop with a Netgear WAG311 PCI Adapter(108 Mbps).

I get a 95% strength signal upstairs on the desktop and 100% signal on the laptop, so no problems there - both can see the internet and each other.

I have two other PC's upstairs that at the moment have normal wired NIC's. My main desktop (with the wireless PCI adapter) has two built in NIC adapters - I have connected another desktop (with a Netgear FA310TX PCI adapter) to this one using a crossover patch cable...no problem, they see each other.

Now, here is the problem: the second desktop cannot see the router or the internet - I have tried all types of variations on the connection, using bridging and not using bridging, but no luck so far. Look at the attached file to view the connections - 'Home Network' is the connection between these two.

I've tried to share the Wireless Connection, but it won't allow me, saying there is already a device with the IP 192.168.0.1 (which is the Netgear Router), and it won't allow me to share a connection using any other IP address.

Can anyone help me out here? I've been struggling for a few hours trying to sort this out...

Many thanks,

Peter Borcherds

It can not work because you are creating double NAT.

If you are using WinXP try to bridge between the Wireless Card and the NIC that goes to the second computer.

The Bridge Connection can be found by right clinking on Local Area Connection Icon.

Find the device that has the 192.168.0.1 (probably the Router) and change it since the bridge will only work with 192.168.0.1

Many thanks, Jack

That worked perfectly - that's what happens when you get XP to do the settings for you!! By the way, I didn't have to change the Router address (192.168.0.1) - seems to work without changing that.

Many thanks again!
