I have a wired/wireless SOHO network (cable modem, router, hub, 3 AP'sconnecting 3 seperate physical locations) that works w/o any problems in all locations unless a wireless notebook running XP(Pro) is active. I use static IP's; DHCP is turned "off " in the router, but the problem I'm having happens with it "on" or "off ".

When a XP notebook is powered-up, all connectivity stops: can't even ping within or outside the LAN. Immediately after shutting down the offender, everything is fine again. I thought it was an ICS issue, as it usually shows-up as active even though it wasn't setup within the notebook's network properties. After disabling it, this network problem remains.

Have tried 2 different XP notebooks and 3 different WiFi cards w. same results. My various hardware vendors have been of little help, although I'm amazed none have claimed it must be a Windows issue.

Would appreciate any hints. Thanx

I can't imagine a way to make this happen.

I use wireless XP Pro laptops no problem.

The laptop would have to constantly flood the airwaves with signal to disrupt other communications - unlikely.

I would suggest monitoring the laptop network activity.
