I've tried two wireless print servers yet I continue to have the same problem.

I setup a Wireless Print-Server (LinkSys WireLess Ready model) on a network with a functioning wireless LinkSys DSL/Router. Although I was able to use the Print Server via the wired connection, I was never able to connect to the device wirelessly. I never found the Channels listed in the LinkSys WPS's Browser-based configuration tool.

The LinkSys device uses a seperate Wireless PC card. I used a known functioning Linksys Wireless PC card with the Print Server, so I feel certain that the PC card is not the problem.

I have set aside the LinkSys device, removed all related drivers, and I have replaced it with a D-Link DP-311u wireless Print Server. I can connect and use the D-link Print-Server via the wired connection but I cannot connect to the device wirelessly.

Unlike the LinkSys PS device, I can set the D-Link DP-311u to the proper channel (and SSID, WEP disabled). Yet no success making the wireless connection.

- I have moved location of the print server to eliminate any EMI
- I have used different wired LAN connections (i.e. router to print-server direct, and router to switch to print-server) during setup and configuration.
- I have reset the default settings and restarted the configuration process without success.

Perhaps I've over-looked a minor detail (the unit is plugged-in).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I have the the same problem. Configured my Microsoft wireless nic adapter (MN-510) and MN-500 basestation to communicate with print server. I had no luck. I even placed all of the equipment in the same room, not able to ping, telenet, or see it.

There support is not good at all, I've contacted them 3 times now and no response. I simply believe you will have to by all of their wireless products in order for them to work wirelessly. If find anything out let me know.

I don't use a wireless print server, but the configuration instructions for the DP-311 look straight forward (assuming it actually works as stated).

Some checks - it should be set to:
- infrastructure mode
- same SSID as your wireless router
- In the same subnet as the router
- switch it to normal mode and repower it.
Since you said you printed to it from a PC wired to the router then I would expect you have already done this.

Wireless PCs should be configured the same.

If this doesn't work I would call Dlink support and report a fault.
Failing all that I would reject it for a refund.

Note:there is a post here from a dissatisfied user. Maybe its not so easy to configure as the setup guide says.

I've tried several brands of Wireless Print Servers (below $150) but still no luck. All other wireless devices work fine (I've added several more since my last post).

Of course the "wired" connections to the Print Servers always worked well with every brand.

Also, I have never received a reply from any brand's online support regarding this issue.

We're not the only ones having this problem for sure. A recent visit to a couple of my local big-box electronic stores revealed several returned units sitting on the shelf and discounted as "Open Items".

My printer is hard-wired to a Hawking LAN PS for now. But one day, in the not-so-distant future, I too will have a working Wireless Print-Server (and a Jetson's mobile).
