Hello,

I have a old 150 MHz 16 MB RAM 1.6 GB HD pc that i need to turn in to a host for our internet and share among the 4 other WinXP pc's in my house.

The internet comes in through a Microwave Dish and screws into a 2 Mb WLAN card, here is the adaptor.

And here is the card you insert.

Now, I tried installing something called SmoothWall, but it did not have the proper drivers included and the OS (stripped down Linux) would not allow me to upload new ones. Heres the problem....I hate Linux, because I dont know it lol, and I have not been able to find another 'stripped' down versions that I thought would work. Has anyone ever done this before? Turning a old pc into a router? Is there a program that I could use with Win95 or Win98? Any help would be greatly appreciated, please e-mail me if you have a solution for this. Thanks again!

There are various sharing packages available for windows, e.g. Wingate, Sygate, Windows ICS.

You might find an answer here:

But those are just your average NAT/Proxies, and to be honest they suck. I've used them before and 3/4 the time they dont work properly. I spent weeks trying to get file transfers for different programs to work but to no avail...AIM still doesnt work lol, thats why I wanted to go to a Host PC solution.
