network password

I have recently installed windows 2000 software on two computers that were networked and working properly. Now when I try to access the other computer on the network, I am asked to enter "Log on using:" and "password". I have no idea what the user name or the password is.

I went into control panel and tried changing users and passwords but this did not make any difference. Any ideas how to resolve...is it better to start the network over again?

It is asking you for a valid username and password that exists on the PC you are trying access. Make an ID on the host PC (the one you are trying to access).

Also ensure both PCs are in the same workgroup and have unique computernames.
