Ok, I have XP ze5200 Pavilion Laptop, attempting to connect to HP Pavilion F70 via a Linksys Router. Desktop is stationary and connected to router/ has online/via hard wired Lan connection. Laptop is Linklys wireless connection and has internet. Problem?
The computers won't connect with each other/ won't talk or communicate with each other. Interne connection sharing and protocalls installed, ran all discs..from linksys and these two machines will not connect. Hoping someone out there had same problem recently and was able to solve it with less headaches as me! After you pay the initiation fee of price of computers, and then the 100 or so for router to connect.....the damn computers should be using birth control!!!! LOL! Oh well, if help is out there I would really appreciate it! And after I learn the answer to the blessed mess I will in turn help you and others! Oh and both these machines utilize Windows XP Home Edition!!! Thankyou.:)

Should indeed work. Check out and follow this guide:

Crucial in configuring is, that your workgroup names should be identical, and that no computer has the same name, and all machines be in the same ip range. I think that the manual explains everything.

If you can't get it to work, please sent us ipconfig /all details so we can have an inside look at what might be wrong. (to be typed in the command prompt line)
