Hi all,
I have a simple wirelss network, (2 notebooks, 2 desktops, 1 accesspoint) firstly, the setup: adsl into one desktop with an access point, all other notebooks and pc have wireless card/adapters.
Now for the problem: up until a few weeks ago all was fine, file and net sharing were fine, then all of a sudden all links just died. Some computers wold get low or no signal....and this is right next to the access point. Tried a new access poitn, still same problem, new everything infact.
When a machine is left next to the access npoint, it will get a signal, then drop out, a few minutes later it will get a signal, and then drop out, like a continuos loop.
Any idea guys?

There could be several issues going on: please check the following:

1) have you enabled a new or updated a firewall?
2) did you install a microsoft update on WPA?
3) have you moved a dect phone or something like it?
4) are the channels from your wireless equipment on the same and continous channel?

let us know!

Thanks for the reply,
Stopped firewall, no dect phone, and channels are all good.

However, I think i have installed a ms update re the wpa, i will update all firmware to see if that is the issue, will keep everyone posted

Note that WPA will only work if your hardware supports it!

Yeah, the hardware i have does not support that, so any ideas anyone?

Sometimes the network detects the ap, but it just seems to die. It seems as though there is some sort of interference but nothing has changed.

So, check out if the following is in your software: XP patch 815485 of 931kb

if so, remove it, restart and retry.

Doh!, no such update in my add/remove, which prolly means i don't have it which leaves us back at square one.
Any other good advice?
