I've been having issues with my 2000AP of late, but I called D-Link tech support, reset the AP, and installed the 2.04 firmware. This fixed the fact that it was being a bit dodgy over LAN, but now I can't get my orinoco gold card to find the AP at all. WEP is disabled, as is MAC filtering. It's not set to 11g mode either. I'm running a Vaio V505AX w/ XP Home. I also downloaded a firmware update for the orinoco card from the lucent website, but it doesn't seem to have done anything. No updates on windows website either. Any takers?
Many thanks
btw, 2.00 AP Manager not working w/ 2.04 firmware, which sucks considering the AP has a dynamic IP address. Has anyone else experienced this??

It is a common practice with D-Link, when they upgrade the Firmware the Manager (in most cases) does not work.
They usually release them by pairs New Firmware and New Manager.

Yeah, I figured that was most likely the problem. But I still can't get my orinoco card to communicate w/ the AP...?
Thanks

Assuming you have set the SSIDs to be identical.
The orinoco gold card come with an orinoco client manager. The client manager used to be a problem when run in XP. You don't need it. Make sure the client manager is not running, and enable XP wireless configuration in the orinoco connection properties.
Also ensure the D-link is using a channel between 1-11.
See if that helps.

When I installed my orinoco gold I just plugged it straight in and didn't load any software. I thought my wireless card might be playing up at one point, but I tried it out on another network and had no problems. All of these led me to the inevitable conclusion that when all else fails, the sound solution is to take the thing back to where it came from. So that's what it did, and I guess you could say I'm not having any more problems with it....
Thanks for the help though!!
