Hope somebody can help out there.

I have a peer to peer network running 5XP and 2 2000pro systems. The network works fine for file and print sharing. I have a BT Bradband internet connection connected to a DLink DSL504 router. 3 pcs are directly connected to this, and the other systems are connected to the router via a 8 port DLink switch. The problem I have is theat when all the systems are on the ADSL connection is very very slow+++ If only 1,2 or maybe 3 systems are on, and it dosnt matter which they are, directly connected to the router or not, the internet spped is fine. All network cards are set to auto detect speeds, but I am 99% sure the network can run at 100MBps full duplex, and I have set 2 systems up forcing them to use 100MBps full duplex, with no change. I am absolutely stumped by this. I am using Cat5E LAN cable is this makes any difference

Any help would be gratefully accepted.

Chris

As an aside, I am using DHCP Adressing via the router. Would static IP adressing be more appropriate???

It should make no difference.

Neither should how many PCs you connect, assuming they are not all demanding internet bandwidth.

I wondered if you mabe you have a bad connector somewhere generating noise, or a switch fault.
