Hello! I will soon be getting a laptop so I want to expand my home network to accomodate wireless and I was wondering if guys had any comments on the most secure consumer level 802.11b/g router or access point would be? I have looked at the Linksys WRT54G and WAT54G. Does anyone know the differences in these, if any, as far as security is concerned? How does the D-link DI-624 and DWL-2000AP? Any and all opinions are welcome and I'm also open to other brands. My only requirement is 802.11g compatability. Thanks much in advance!

After further reading, I think the DWL-2000AP fits my bill as far as features go... does anyone have any comments on it, especially security wise? Thanks.

You mean WRT54G and WAP54G ?
The WAP54G claims to support WPA security (which is good), but the WRT54G does not claim it - which is strange and not good. Both provide MAC address filtering which is good.
The Linksys laptop card is not clear if it supports WPA.
The Dlink-2000AP does not claim MAC address filtering (which would put it straight off my short list). It does claim WPA security but it not available yet.
Guess I would choose the WAP54G.

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I will probably go with either the WAP54G or the DWL-2000AP. After reading the review of the WAP54G, I think I would rather have the DWL-2000AP. BUT, if it doesn't have MAC filtering, I will probably go with the WAP54G because I plan on just using one or two lappies with this, so I'll just block everything but my own MAC. I have downloaded the manual and I'll probably read it when I get back from school. How much does WEP help? Are there any articles on it? It pretty much encrypts your signals so that even if they are picked up, it's hard to decipher them? Is that correct? Thanks much for your time and reply. If anyone else has anything to say, please do. :)
