I live with my brother and he has cable Internet. I also would like to use this on my PC, but do not want to set up a router and run wires all over the house or spend $$ on a wireless network. Can I just plug a cable modem into the cable TV outlet in my room and my PC and connect to the Internet with out creating any problems with my brother's connection??? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

As far as I know you cannot do that. The modem has a unique (MAC) address in it which is registered with the ISP and it will only talk with that modem.

The least disruptive way to get yourself on the connection is a wireless router but as you say it costs some cash.
