Hi I'm new to wireless networks AND don't know much about computers. My set up is:

BT Yahoo btroadband
speedtouch modem (supplied by bt)
HP pavilion pc xp
Advent pc xp
2 US Robotics 22 Mbps Wireless PCI adapters

I've installed the hardware and software for the 2 network cards and also run the ms network wizard.

I'm getting broadband OK on the host pc but nothing on the 2nd pc.

The network cards are functioning (peer to peer signal strength is shown as excellent for both PCs) but pc 2 isn't picking up broadband.

It might be something to do with the IP numbers. When i run IP config the following is shown:

Ethernet Adapter Network bridges

for host pc-
Host ip address - 192.168.0.10
subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
default gateway - blank

For 2nd PC
Host IP address - 192.168.0.20
subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
default gateway 192.168.0.10

Sorry for newbie question but i'm new to this and I've got my 15 year old son giving me a really hard time (the PC was a present for passing an exam instead of getting him a dog)

thanks

Try the manual on ics on this page. www.practicallynetworked.com/ics/

I see that your ip is assigned wrongly. For sharing internet it should always be 192,168,0,1 for the host and 192,168,0,x the host. At the host, you set 192,168,0,1 as default gateway.

You can remove the bridge, by simply deleting it in "my network places." Then, run either the manual on ics or create a new ics by using the wizard.

Run the internet connection sharing wizard on both computers. Then assign IP's as above in the TCP/IP settings of your network connection. It took me ages to understand what to do to get it running, but this place was a great help.

good luck
