Hey,
I just got back to my apt in SD, connected to my wireless network and now, no matter if I'm idle or doing something on the computer, I am constantly uploading 53-150kbps, according to the D-Link Airplus software monitor.
The router is a D-Link 614+
What could be causing, this constant upload? It's breaking up my upload speed and my connection is noticably slower.
I changed WEP keys, so i dont think that someone is on my connection, any ideas?

How long is this going on? Could it be possible that you're downloading windows updates?

I swear, it only started doing this about 2 hours ago.
It's really annoying. There's no programs using the connection that are active and I dont see anything suspicious in the processes list.
I am also definately not downloading windows updates

Did you enable during your absence another network connection?

I have 3 computers connected to the network, but when the problem first started I disconnected all the computers except for my main one and it still does it.
I think its the one computer though, because I turned the main computer off and now I'm on the laptop and the laptop doesnt do the transmit thing.
Any ideas what could be causing the computer to do that? possibly a setting?
Would the fact that the main computer is in the DMZ make a difference?

You're sure that there's no download / upload task in cue? Something like kazaa, ms outlook, ftp?

Positive. The only thing in my system tray is the Nvidia nForce2 sound program and the D-Link Airplus software.

Can you see any other networks or computers in you client manager? You might want to try another wireless channel on your network and see if the problem remains. I can't see that's transferring anything to nothing.

me either, those packets have to be going somewhere?
Could the router be requesting them?

Can't imagine what and what. As I said, change the channel and of course, reset the router. See what happens then? Maybe it's 'thinking' of finishing a finished task?!

alright, I'm gonna reset the router and change channels.
Oh, assigning a computer a static IP that is within range of the DHCP wouldnt have any affect would it?

Not unless that ip is already in use. So, make sure you pick an unique one. If you've changed it, check your ipconfig/all and see which ip appear. Might give you some additional information.

well I changed the DHCP starting IP address to 192.168.0.101 instead of 192.168.0.100.
Then I assigned 192.168.0.100 to my DMZ computer (gaming comp).
So far so good, no transmitting packets, but we'll see in a few minutes if it stays quiet.

ok, its transmitting again :(
I just downloaded a few files of Kazaa and now its doing it. It wasnt doing it before I opened up kazaa.
I completely quit out of Kazaa and its doing it.
ANy ideas on that?

Not right now, beside the things I came up already. Have you looked at the ipconfig? Are there other pc's, beside yours in "your network"?
If changing channels does not work, you might want to install WPA from microsoft instead. Only install it if you're sure that your hardware supports it.

damnit, the thing is still uploadin without any program open.
Thanks for your continued help eric, and if anyone else has ideas, please let me know!
By the way, what is WPA?

I really dont think anyone is on my network because if I shut this computer down and jump on my roomates computer or the laptop, it doesnt do it.
Holy crap this is pissing me off. Someone out there has to have some insight.
