OK I've been asked to network out a 5computer (4 pc 1 mac) student house. I can get cable in the house which has an ethernet out port...

...which I was planning to plug into a Netgear 802.11g wi-fi router with 4 100mbps ethernet ports. My concern with this is how many computers can I connect to a wi-fi hub? Is the 54mbps wifi shared between the computers with wifi cards? I've heard that 802.11g crawls with more than 3 computers, is this true? does everyone have 54mbps themselves, and how many users can connect to an access point?

anyone know? thanks in advance!

I've got 5 clients running a 54g ap, without a problem. Your bandwith might be too small if you would go for severe file and printersharing. If not, this will be more than enough to share the internet connection.
