I have had a home network installed for over 2 years on Windows NT. We installed Direcway on one of the computers, and during the installition process, the computer was disconnected from the network. Now, I can't reconnect the computer to the network, I cannot sahre the internet coneection, nothig. It's like a stand alone computer now!!!! Everything I've read, says that I have to have a network connection established already before I can continue. I'm not sure how to get this computer back on-line. I tried putting the old IP and subnet mask back to where they were on the TCP/IP adapter, but that gave me a conflict and shut the whole thing down. I tried auto detect for IP address on the other computers, even the server, and nothgin happened except my network did not work. Direcway is no help, even though they told us to disconnect the computer from the network, they can't tell me how to get my network back. Any help would be appreciated. We are using WIN98SE.
Thanks

You will need to give more info if we are to help.
What is your topology (i.e. what have you got and how is everything physically connected).
Are you sharing the satellite link and how (ICS?).
Post the current IP and subnet of each PC identifying which is the satellite PC and which the NT PC. (Don't post any internet IPs, just internal LAN IPs).
I don't know much about Direcway but we might help get you back on line.

Thanks for getting me to double check my IP addresses. I had one wrong and that was causing the problems. I got the computers to talk to each other and tried to install the ICS. I'm now having problems with that. Everytime I try to install the ICS, the host does not connect to any of the other computers, and it won't connect to the internet either. I have followed the instructions from direcway, where they tell you to ping the host from the client. It pings just fine. I then try to setup the host, by clicking on the windows setup, then internet set up, then internet connection sharing. I proceed through the set up wizard, selecting the highspeed connection, then satellite. It reboots the computer, but then the hosts refuses to acknowledge the domain or mapped dirves. When I disable the ICS it works just fine. The host sees the domain, and other mapped drives and even connects back to the mapped drives. Again, any help would be appreciated.

I can't help unless you answer the questions in my previous post. Then I may know what is going on and can advise.

I'm having a similar problem as what was seen in the initial post.
My SOHO was working ok. Bring in DirecWay, network connectivity gone.
Topoloy Initial:
WinXP: com 1 ----> com1 modem (PPP adapter) to internet
(IP addr via DHCP)
NIC ----> static IP 192.168.0.1 ------> HUB
WinNT: NIC ----> static IP 192.168.0.10 ------> HUB
LinuxFedora: NIC ----> static IP 192.168.0.5 ------> HUB
Usage: FTP from WinXP to Linux
FTP from WinNT to Linux
Share Dirs between WinXP and WinNT
Fairly crude, but did all I needed.
Topoloy Now:
DirectWay: Static 67.46.194.77 (mask 255.255.255.252) --> HUB
WinNT: NIC ----> DHCP addr ------> HUB
LinuxFedora: NIC ----> static IP 192.168.0.5 ------> HUB
Given the mask, there isn't much choice for the IP address on the WinNT box.
If the following is of any use to the scenario: The goal of the system is to use the NT-box to FTP data from the net and FTP it to the Linux-box to be processed. Once processed, the NT-box will send the data back. The data processing is fairly intensive and my Linux-box is the best one to do the job. The NT-box is a much slower than the Linux-box. However the NT-box can out perform the DirecWay dish.
I've played around with various options on both the NT-box and the Linux-box with no success. I picked up a WinNT&UNIX integration book (ISBN 0-07-882395-1) but it is trying to build me a Limousine and I'm just after a go-kart.
