Ok I need some help....heres my situation.....In my house we have 2 different road runner connections....one of them is hooked up strait to my computer via etherenet cable....and the second one is upstairs hooked up to a linksys befsr41 router/switch, which is then spread out to 3 computers....and what I want to do is vpn (or any known method) into the network upstairs that is on that router so that i can be a part of that network neighborhood and not have to run an ethernet cable clear to that router....if anyone knows how to or where i can find instrutions on how to do this itd b very helpful....thanks

To use a true VPN package your router needs to support VPN pass thro - which your router spec seems to indicate that it does.

I use VNC to access my home LAN from the office. It works well but is not ideal because it does not use encryption. You can find out more and download it form here: (it is free).

You will need to select a PC to link to and forward the ports (5800 and 5900) on your router to the PC IP address.

i dont think that the BEFSR41's original firmware doesnt have a VPN capability, i would suggest try to email their tech support. support@linksys.com to give you a special firmware that would have a VPN capability.:D
