OK Heres the deal I am running 2 computers both on XP Home. I am using Diamonds Homefree USB Phoneline adapters. The very first time I installed everything it worked fine. I got both computers to link up and be able to share files and one to use the other dsl internet access. Then out of the blue after one of the computers was shut down the computers would no longer establish a link. (the little link light on the adapters wont come on) I tried everything!!!! Nothing worked. I thought maybe the hardware on Diamonds Homefree adapters was broken or something. Then I decided to go wireless and set all that up and that worked fine but then I though might as well try to get the phoneline network to work one last time. I hooked everything up again and boom it worked. ( now I had tried disconnecting it all before to no avail and uninstalling the drivers to no avail) but for some reason it worked again. Then shut down or restarted one of the computers and same problem no link between the two computers and both says a network cable is unplugged. Please help me!!!.

It may be distance or line signal quality related. One possible way to verify that is to connect both adapters together directly, without the use of the phone jacks. If the connection persists through multiple boots in that configuration, then it's back to distance or line quality...

Chances are your USB ports are going to sleep and the device is not recovering from that. Change the setting through the device manager to prevent your computer from turning off the USB port. And send me the Driver for the Diamond USB adapter while you're at it please.
thanks

The current driver available does not support Windows XP, it in fact causes a blue screen of death if the device is stopped, either abruptly or gracefully. A Windows XP driver for the Diamond HomeFree USB Adapter is available here: http://www.geocities.com/webvcr/homefree-10mbs-usb/index.html
