Hey, Im having a problem networking my computer with Windows XP to my computer with Windows 98, I have done it several times before without a problem. I run the networking setup wizard on the computer with 98, and it works fine, I run it with XP it just locks up, and when I try to Repair the connection to my other computer it says "The following steps of repair have failed: Renewing the IP address, I have tryed so many things it's yet to work... I am using a cable modem too not sure if that makes a difference.I don't think there is a problem with the hardware it says it's all installed correctly. The little computer in the system tray also says it's connected but the lights are not on. Anyone have any idea's? Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem as I network between machines with XP, ME and 2000 OS. That's actually why I came to the board. I can't actually solve your problem the way it should be solved, but I do have a work around of sorts that seems to function for me. When any computer in the system is unable to access the Internet (and I know the connection is good as one or more of the others on the network has access), I find that powering down the router for about 15 seconds seems to reset things and reestablishes Internet access for the down computer. You may have to reboot the down computer as well, though that is generally not necessary. I'll be posting a message with my own problem in this regard and maybe someone will be able to get at the actual source of the difficulty, but I hope this works for you in the interim.
