I have a peer to peer win 2000, using netgear MA101, our internet connection is a Direcway 2 way sat with static IP. The system works half way.
There are functions that we must still use the dial-up for, i.e., heavy java pages, AIM, & FTP.
Any ideas why?

What do you mean by "the system only works half way"? I'm going to assume your Internet connection speed is slow since you really never specified in more details. This depends on the network setup you have. The netgear MA101 (http://www.netgear.com/products/prod_details.asp?prodID=105) you have is a 802.11 b wireless usb adapter if I'm not mistaken. Plus you're on dialup which can only run up to 56 kbps. Depending on how far apart the computers are on the wireless setup you have will make some difference on transmission speed.

ecross,
Thanks for replying, I'll try to give more detailed information.
What do you mean by "the system only works half way"? when bringing up webpages (on the computer that is not directly connected to the sat) that do not contain a lot of java, the system works great, same goes for pages that do not contain flash. However, entering a site that is primarily java driven or contains flash, the sat system will not work properly. The pages begin to load then everything stops loading. When trying to FT using ws-ftp, the sat will not upload at all.
The netgear MA101 you have is a 802.11 b wireless usb adapter if I'm not mistaken. you are correct.
Plus you're on dialup which can only run up to 56 kbps. I only use the dialup when pages do not load, or when I have to FTP.
Depending on how far apart the computers are on the wireless setup you have will make some difference on transmission speed. Both computers are less then 10 feet apart in the same room.
I hope that brings more light on mysituation.
Thanks
Pattiea

Some applets will fail if you don't have the current plug-in installed, but on the other hand some applets do take a while to load. This also could be the server and your connection speed as well. I do know that some firewall software such as Agnitum Outpost Firewall has an option to enable or disable applets, not sure about Flash but since it starts to load then I'm really not sure if this is your problem or not.
