Joined the forum today to thank you for solving my network problem.
My wife's PC had just started booting in over 2mins - normally 45 secs - and I checked Bootlog.txt.
dsound.vxd was taking 65 secs, and vnbt.386 was at 23 secs. Deleted dsound from her pc, and copied my version fom downstairs - now booted in 60 secs - so far so good.
Deleted vnbt and copied mine - BSOD, Fatal exceptions, etc etc. Panic then set in, she'll give me stick for trashing her PC!!
ICS was still OK, but Net.N/Hood showed nothing at all. Checked all the NIC card settings, IP addresses,properties etc to no avail.
Remembered I'd copied my Favourites to her PC and was sure this web page was one of them!! Sure enough it was, and I scoured the Troubleshooters for the next hour. Came across the section "Clean up Registry TCP/IP info " and printed it off - went into the registry, followed the info given, and it worked 1st time.
I would never have seen where the problems had originated, or were to be traced and remedied, without this website.
Thanks for saving me hours and hours of pain.
