HI ALL, Has anyone here tryed using >strictly< the integrated antenna 's on the uSB WIFI cards to do an AD_HOC connection? I m wanting to connect to two neighbors houses,,that are 300' away. Im thinking of puchasing the Blitzz cards from Wal Mart and making my own USB cables to go out onto antenna masts (20'),, to make the connection(S).I have good line of sight. Has anyone here ever made it this far without the hassle of making external "cantenna's"?.. thanks for input Barry

There are antenna's available on the market that fit on router and network cards. These does extend your reach up to 100 metres.
My experience is best with professional gear instead of home made stuff. If it's not satisfying, you can bring it back. Easy as it is.

My roommate just bought an external antenna (for an Orinico Gold card, not all cards have the little connection).
Before we could only be in our backyard and front yard, now he can walk up to 2 houses down and he turned back.
Amazing!
I think he said he paid $80...

Yes, the Orinoco products are awesome just because of that feature and the client manager is pretty decent too. But thats why I recommend the AP-500 too, because it just has a PC card inside that you connect an antenna or amp with antenna and pretty much do whatever you want...
