Hello all,
I am trying to set up a user to access our network and having MAJOR difficutly with it. Here's what I have and what I've done so far:
I've just installed a Netgear FA511 on a Dell laptop with Win 98. The install went perfect. Went into the network properties and gave the system a static ip address as well as putting in the gateway and DNS information.
After rebooting to allow everything to take effect I tried to access the internet with no luck. I then when to the command line and pinged the IP address I placed in the TCP/IP properties for the laptop itself. I recieved a succesful ping. I then attempted to ping some other addresses on the network, but receieved "Request timed out".
I then decided to replace the patch cable and test. Same results. I then moved the laptop to a different location that I knew was working to see if it was the network drop. Same results.
I then removed and added both the adapter and the TCP/IP protocal. Same results!!!
I can not think of anything else to test or search for. I even tried another Network card to see if it was faulty, but again received the SAME results!!
Any help here would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks in advance...
