ok, here goes, any help would be appreciated, lots;

We've just got a new mesh computer, with 3Com fast ethernet LAN card, with Windows XP and the old computer has a linksys LAN card and runs Windows 98SE. The old computer has cable modem. I can get the old computer to recognise that it exists - i.e. in network neighbourhood it can see 'old computer.' But when I connect the crossover cable to the new Mesh computer, it does not recognise any form of connection what-so-ever. Why is this, (it has been a pain in the backside trying to sort out a simple 2 PC home network) and how can I solve it?!

Thanks

Any help appreciated

If you're sure its a cross over cable then you could run thro the checklist in my sig.
