Any help would be great. Greenstead 11-08-2002, 12:49 PM I'm not sure what you mean by DHCP hostname. Where is your DHCP server located ? k-dubz 11-08-2002, 05:45 PM I am not sure where the DHCP server is located. The only thing I know is the servers IP adress. Greenstead 11-08-2002, 10:03 PM So why are you concerned to learn your DHCP host name. What is it you need to do ? k-dubz 11-08-2002, 10:23 PM Well, let me explain the situation. I have high speed internet in my apartment, but I am on a University network. I am currently trying to connect online with my playstation2 so I can play my games online. When I called playstation they told me I needed to get my DHCP host name from my ISP, but my ISP is not cooperating with me and have not responded to any of my e-mails. Since the ethernet is part of my rent each month at my apt. I should have a right to know my DHCP host name and they are not giving me that info. Since they have not given it to me I was just trying to find an alternative way to acquire my DHCP host name. It seems logical to me that when I have my CPU connected to that ethernet port, that my DHCP host name should be somewhere on my computer, but I just don't how to find it. Greenstead 11-08-2002, 10:33 PM I'm still not clear what you need. Do you mean the ISP's DNS server address ? Do you have a PC connected? You might get it from there. DynamO 11-19-2002, 04:06 AM If you go to a command prompt and ping the IP address of yoru DNS Server, it will give you the resolved name.. Is this what you are looking for? RichardCraneum 11-28-2002, 06:04 AM I think he asking for the Domain Name so he can join the network. The server can be call anything you like, some people like XXXXPDC (Primary Domain Controller) or XXXBDC ( Backup Domain Controller) for NT or mixed mode ( W2K servers mixed NT servers). In the way I join the PCs on the network by DHCP you need 2 things, Machine Name (PC) and a Domain Name and that is all. If is on a NT PC just right click on network neighborhood and click on properties, you will see the info there, on W2K is on My Computer right click, properties, 2nd tab Network Identification. You might need someone on the network to add a Machine name so you can join. W2K does it by itself if you have admin rights. PS2 I believe is like NT, is much easier to join if the name is added on the network. I hope that answer your question and for security reason I guess they do not want to tell you anything.
