I have just set up a Buffalo Airstation G54 router from my DSL connection.

I want to stream video, hence the 54g router and cardbus card for my laptop.

However I have legacy 802.11b connections. These can still connect to the Airstation, but unfortunately the spped of all connections tumbles to c. 3Mbps when I switch to combined 11g/11b mode (which I need to do to allow the legacy WiFi points onto the network

I still have a Belkin 11b router, doing nothing. My question is; can I hook this old router to the new router and set up a separate 11b network for these legacy devices. If that were possible, how could I let one network "see" the other, to access files etc.

Perhaps if this didn't work, I could set up an 11b access point of the 11g router?

Any ideas gratefully received!

Interesting problem.

You can join any wireless routers by connecting their LAN ports and ensuring the DHCP service is enabled in only one router. They will all be on the same subnet then and can share resources like any subnet.

Can you make the G router ignore B signals ?

I have a similar interest and will later move to G to provide video bandwidth.
