Refer to the diagram (the link one of my posts below) for my network layout. Ive been messing with this for 2 days and i cant figure it out. Here is my other setup/layout information.

1. All computers are running Windows XP Pro SP1

2. I am using the Linksys Befw11s4 version 2 Router and my ISP is ATT.

This is what i am trying to accomplish:

1. I am trying to setup the WORKSTATIONS at HOUSE 2 to use an IP of 192.168.1.xx, in other words....I want to stay on the same network IP as the (Linksys Router IP) Internal Router's IP.

I basically am trying to get my one computer at house to do the job of the Linksys WET11 by using one wireless card and one wired card connected to a hub.

Keep in mind that I DO NOT want to buy any additional hardware. I repeat I DO NOT want to buy extra hardware. I know this can be done somehow.

Can someone please tell he how to correctly set this up and give me the correct IP information including:
IP ADDRESS
SUBNET MASK
GATEWAY
DNS (If nesseccary)

1. Im not sure how this works on a wireless, but the connection from the router to the hub needs to be set to upload on the router.

2. You should have ip/subnet/gateway set to automatic detection.

what needs to be set to upload? How do i do that?

Thats an interesting topology. It looks like it should work.

In XP there is a feature to create a bridge between two connections (i.e. the wireless and wired NICs in the PC in House 2). If you can set this up (I never tried it myself) then you should be able to configure all the PCs as though they are wired up together. In which case you would configure all NICs to get an IP address and DNS address automatically and the DHCP server in the router should do it all for you (i.e. allocate IP, gateway and DNS addresses).

Give it a try and see.

Greenstead, ive tried that before and ICS was not the solution, it ends up leaving me on 2 different networks becuase by enabling ICS it makes box 1 act as a 2nd router and then seperates HOUSE 1 and HOUSE 2. Although by using ICS i was able to admisiter the router i was not on a single network like i want to be on. I was to both house 1 and house 2 to be on the 192.168.1.0 network. Only logical solution would be to bridge, but i dunno how to bridge the connection correctly. I need help assigning the correct ips, subnetmaks, and gateways.

can anyone help me out with this?

***********MY NEW NETWORK DIAGRAM IS IN THE LINK ABOVE*******

lol, i tried that, but its easier said that done. Does anyone have an idea on what IPs to give to what NIC and what subnet and gateway to use.

I have it working right now without being bridged or without using special routing software on box 1, but the only reason i dont like the setup is because i run into 1 problem .

Only problem i got with the network setup i have above is that i can browse the net on BOX 2 and 3 but i cant administer the router on box 2 and 3. I cant figure out why, but i think that bridging my be the key. Only someone could solve my problem by telling me what IP's to use on the bridge.

Yes, indeed, it is a very interesting setup, ive been screwing around with it for the past month trying different networking methods, you would be suprised what works and what doesnt works and how many different ways you can netowork computers. Ive finally figured out how to do it so that the network works the way i want it to work, the key is to bridge, but i cant figure out what ip's to assign what. thats all i need help on.

XeoNoX - I didn't say use ICS. And you should not use ICS.

It would be clearer if you changed all the SBCs to 255.255.255.0

If you have bridged then I would expect all the gateway addresses should be 192.168.1.1

btw Take your internet IP out of the diagram.

whoops, sorry about that, the way your spell NICs looked like you said ICS to me. LoL. and the second i though i saw ics i just decided to tell you my experience with ics. LoL. Sorry, my fault.

Well from the diagram http://xeonox.netfirms.com/Ntwrk0002.JPG it the IP shown on there is not my actuall ip, i change a couple numbers but everything else is right besides the computer names.

.....Back to my headache.....

Before i bridge, what IP's should i have each NIC set at?
Please tell me the IP, Subnetmask, gateway, dns, that i should use for both nic's before i click bridge.

After i click bridge it creates the bridge and the only thing i have to configure is the bridge that i created. In the bridge i am allowed to assign it an IP, Subnetmask, gateway, & DNS. What do i set all that to?

Basically i need the ip setting to before i bridge and after i bridge for my current layout of ( http://xeonox.netfirms.com/Ntwrk0002.JPG ).

If you change your subnet mask (everywhere) to 255.255.255.0 then you can give everything an IP in the range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254 The gateway address should be your router LAN address (192.168.1.1). The DNS address should be the ISP DNS address (204.127.98.19 from the diagram). This all applies before or after bridging.

I would suggest you reboot everything in house 2 after setting up the bridge (power all down, power up the bridge PC first).

after i bridge on box 1, is box1 supposed to be able to connect to the internet after i bridge?
